How to set up the Lockd Pod?
This guide can help you set up your Lockd Pod.
Why is there a 50 app limit?
Apple’s App Picker tool currently allows selection of up to 50 apps. We are currently working on expanding this functionality so you’ll be able to block more apps in the near future.
What are Emergency Unlocks?
You start with 3 Emergency Unlocks, allowing you to exit lockd mode without the Pod. You can purchase more if needed, but we encourage using them only when absolutely necessary.
How do I make Lockd stricter?
- Strict Mode: Activating strict mode stops users from deleting the app.
- Screen Time Access Block: Use a shortcut to block access to Settings and reduce the chance of changing Screen Time controls.
Having issues using the App Picker?
Unfortunately, some limitations are due to the way Apple’s App Picker is designed. We’re actively working on improvements with Apple. In the meantime, try:
- Open one app category at a time
- Paste app names into the search bar
- Close categories after selecting apps
- Avoid clicking “Other”
- Force quit LOCKD and restart your phone
Troubleshooting
Seeing error messages?
Try the following:
- Check your WiFi or cellular connection
- Force quit and relaunch the app
- Restart your device
- Update your app and iOS software
App not responding to Lockd Pod?
- Make sure your phone’s NFC detection is enabled
- Tap gently against the correct area (top/back of phone) at a 45-degree angle
- When clicking the LOCKD button, if “Ready to Scan” doesn’t show, restart your phone
Apps not blocking correctly?
- Check that Lockd has Screen Time access: Settings > Screen Time > Toggle LOCKD access on
- Ensure your iOS is version 16 or newer
- Turn off any App Limits from Apple Screen Time: Settings > Screen Time > App Limits
- Disable other screen time management apps
- Remove apps from Always Allowed: Settings > Screen Time > Always Allowed
- Restart your device or reinstall the LOCKD app
- Wait up to 4 hours for changes to take effect
Phone app blocking not possible?
Due to iOS limitations, the Phone app can’t be blocked. We're continuing to explore options.
Some apps are blocked when they shouldn’t be?
- Check if the app is selected in the App Picker
- Double-check App Limits and Always Allowed lists
- Quit the app and open it again
- Restart your iPhone
